Purchased this card to upgrade from Intel integrated graphics on a Dell, did not have to upgrade power supply, can now play most games at a decent resolution and better all round graphics for the cost.
DON't place anything between your PC and TV. You can only view on a TV WITH A DIRECT CABLE CONNECTION TO YOUR TV. SVIDEO or HDMI ONLY. Great Card for the price. No VCR, no Extenders, no Adapters.Other than that, this is a great buy for a great price. After reading the manual again, I noticed that it mention won't see a any video if you hook up to a VCR, video mixer or using any adapters. Easy installationThe main reason I picked this up was to watch on my TV through my VCR/DVD combo but I couldn't get it to work. It must be plugged in directly into the TELEVISON.If you plan on using this to hook up to a VCR or with a RCA/S-Video Convertor to your television for an additional monitor.IT WONT WORK.
Very satisfied. Very simple to install, with picture install guide and driver disc neatly in case. Very good product. I received it on time and neatly packaged.
Spend the extra ten bucks and get the 9500 from the same manufacturer. There's a noticeable performance gain for very little increase in price. Also, note that if you're buying this card for use with Second Life, SL can only address up to 512MB of RAM so you can save some money by getting a video card that has 512MB instead.
. AMAZING.BTW: I found out that I can set and CREATE a CUSTOMIZED resolution and after diddling around for a while, managed to set my resolution to 1240 x 660. Normally it would take several days to get a response from most tech support areas. AND KUDOS FOR BOTH AMAZON (which has always given me good service and now the EVGA TECH SUPPORT PEOPLE.Addendum: June 29th 2009Just got an email from Joe Darwin (Director of Technical Marketing)as a follow up. THEY HAD EMAILED ME WITH AN ANSWER IN LESS THAN 24 HOURS. Hard to add on to the good things that has been said about this product.
However when I went to change resolutions (in Windows XP display properties settings), I had only 3 choices: 800 x 600, 1024 x 768 and the 1600 x 900.I went to the EVGA site, signed up and left a message for tech support. And it's big enough for me to read easily, and the images are NOT distorted as would happen when selecting some of the other choices.I AM A HAPPY CAMPER. I bought it to support my new HP 2009m 20 inch LCD Monitor (another excellent unit). I have contacted them TWICE and both responses were within that time. What more can you ask for in a company. Installed it on an old Gateway 9310x desktop computer and although it already had a 300 watt power supply, I went ahead and upgraded to a 400 watt power supply.Being an OLD Senior with aging eyes, I was having difficulties seeing the recommended 1600 x 900 resolution (Monitor recommendation) and I wanted something a little bit larger like 1280 by 720.
NOT with this company.
